If you are able to remove and reinstall your 4L60E transmission but do not want to take on the job of rebuilding it, you have come to the right place. I only offer the transmission rebuild service. No transmission removal or installation service is offered. Please be sure to bring the torque converter with the transmission to avoid paying a substantial core charge. It also helps to eliminate any confusion obtaining the correct replacement converter. The cost for my basic rebuild service as described on the home page is $995. I do offer discounts so check back often and also check my inventory.

My basic rebuild service consists of the transmission being disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and reassembled with all new gaskets, bushings, seals, clutch steel and friction discs, fluid filters, the band, a remanufactured torque converter, and 12-quarts of synthetic transmission fluid. The transmission fluid may be supplied in gallon or quart containers. My basic rebuild service may be all that is necessary for a working transmission with 150,000 miles or less that is just beginning to have problems. Lower mileage transmissions with minor problems can cost less depending on the condition of the components. Higher mileage transmissions with more wear and damage will naturally cost more.
Some of the more common problems with high mileage or overworked transmissions:
These are not the only components that could be worn or damaged just some of the more common ones. Valve bodies, oil pumps, gears, shafts, thrust bearings, cases, and housings could also need replacing. Just about any part of the transmission can have damaged. After disassembling your transmission many hours are spent on the cleaning and inspection process. I am trying to determine the root cause for any problems with the transmission. Knowing the source of the problem and fixing it assures me that the rebuild will be successful and problem free.
In some transmissions nothing may be needed beyond my basic rebuild service. In other transmissions some added components and labor will be necessary. Electrical components and other parts are only replaced if they do not pass inspection. This keeps the cost down since you are only paying for what is needed. The decision is always yours if you would prefer to replace components that are still in good working condition. Just let me know what you would like done. A big part of any transmission rebuild is knowing what will actually be done and what parts will be replaced. When shopping around always ask "What components are you going to replace for that price?". Try to get a written itemized estimate and compare theirs to mine. If you find the shop unwilling to do that or get unsatisfactory answers to your questions be leery. You probably should just walk away.
I use new, brand name, quality components from the following companies: ACDelco, BorgWarner, Fel-Pro, Filtran, General Motors, Precision International, Raybestos, Rostra, Sonnax, Superior, Toledo, and TransGo. Most of the replacement components are upgraded and improved over the original part. I do not participate in cheap transmission rebuilds by using inferior components and taking short cuts. A quality transmission rebuild is not going to be cheap no matter who does it. If you find an offer for substantially less than mine you can be assured that low quality parts and short cut procedures will be used. That low cost transmission rebuild will eventually end up costing you much more. I hope all of this helps to explain what my rebuild service consists of. Please contact me with any questions.
Rebuild Time and Payment Procedure
Once work has begun on your transmission it normally takes 2-weeks (or less) to complete the process and have your transmission ready for pick-up. After the disassembly and inspection of your transmission I will email your invoice. Seventy percent (70%) of the invoice will need to be paid before work can continue. The remaining balance is due before picking up your transmission. Cash or online payment through Zelle are accepted forms of payment.
My off season (November through April) can add considerable time to your transmission rebuild because of the weather and my work schedule. Please be able to wait up to 6-weeks during these months. My work area is not heated and my work days are much shorter.

Some of the more common problems with high mileage or overworked transmissions:
- sun shell spline area is damaged
- reverse input drum surface is damaged from the 2-4 band slipping
- accumulator piston holes are worn
- separator plate holes are enlarged from the steel check balls slamming against them
- inside diameter of the boost valve sleeve is worn
- pressure regulator spring is weak
- forward sprag clutch is slipping
- low/reverse roller clutch is slipping
- electrical components are damaged from heat and age
- 3rd accumulator steel check ball is leaking
